A somewhat goofy mini-collection of stuff I’ve been reading, stuff I’ve been thinking about and oh, some completely random crap.
Basically the stuff that never gets mentioned here because I’m not the kind of person who can just make some teeny little point. Not into the whole brevity thing, as the Dude would say.
Actually, I’m under the strict compulsion to write ten pages about anything on my mind. So this is me. Practicing brevity.
So the hardest posts for me to write — I mean, “write” — are the ones like this.
Where dictation software meets incoherent rambling meets a bunch of links.
I ended up writing chunks of it by hand and then filling in some of the blanks with my voice-to-text software thingy. It’s mostly working. If it doesn’t drive me crazy.
And if it does, you’ll be the first to hear about it! Complete with deranged cackling! Mwahahaha, etc.
Okay. Let’s do this thing.
Item! Post No. 13 in a series that is the only thing standing between me and a thousand open browser windows.
Item! Cake! But not really.
Heidi is marvelous. So is this post.
“Moods change. Minds change. Weather changes too. Friends move or move on. Loved ones pass away. Leases end. Economies dip and
diedive. But I’m the one I’ll go to bed and wake with till the day I die. It may sound obvious but it’s not something I’ve always appreciated.”
You know you want to read more, right?
Item! Speaking of vulnerability.
This post from Christine Martell is open, honest and incredibly powerful. You don’t often get to read someone’s deep, dark, secret thoughts about where their business is going.
Power.
“I’m realizing I created tools to help people feel more connected and alive inside organizations, to combat soul death. I created soul death for myself doing it.”
She’s @cmartell on Twitter if you’re a Twitterite.
Item! Yum! Also just fun.
My friend Denise finally started a blog. Which is wonderful.
Also she says things like this:
“Mouthwatering menu? Check! Bucket of butter? Check!”
How can you not adore her? Also, the chronicles of her “I just quit my job so I went to France to eat stuff!” adventure are highly entertaining.
I am super curious to see what comes into this space and what she’s going to end up doing, but keep an eye on her. I’m predicting all sorts of interesting things.
She’s @deniseds on Twitter.
Item! An open letter to social mavens!
We love Erika. She really gets us Highly Sensitive types. Also, she’s a fellow shivanaut.
This post — an open letter to social mavens and shivanauts — is super interesting. And I’m pretty sure it’s still interesting even if you’re not (yet) one of the wacky.
And she’s @LifeBlazing on Twitter.
Item! This is gorgeous!
A bunch of people wrote some amazing letters last week after my imploring them to do so and then writing a personal ad to my closet.
This one from Tiara Shafiq is hot hot hot.
“We will dress up in black and red and sequins and struff our stuff at burlesque balls. We will commune with artists and break the bread of inspiration. We will launch other people’s feathered dreams.”
Right?
She’s @divabat on Twitter, if you’re interested. And I mean, come on! Who wouldn’t be?
Item! Upcoming!
Wendy Cholbi and Mynde Mayfield are doing a (no-cost) teleclass tomorrow — Thursday — about terror of technology and useful tools for non-scary business planning.
They’re so much fun. And it looks like really good stuff. Take a look.
Item! MORE upcoming!
So … more details to come, but mark your calendar for now.
Selma and I will be flying out to North Carolina to teach a live (like, in-person) workshop the weekend of May 23rd. I know!
Destuckifying, wacky yoga brain training, good times. Save the date. Because we’re going to do some damage, is all I’m saying.
We’re only doing four live events this year and one of them is in Germany, so if there’s any way you can swing it, this is it. 🙂
That is all.
That’s enough, right?
Happy, happy reading. Happy Blustery Windsday. See you tomorrow.
Yay! North Carolina! Marking the calendar and getting Shiva-happy!
Thank you for all the wonderful links to blogs I’ll enjoy following. My Google Reader floweth over!

Calendar is marked. It’s awesome and crazy that it actually fits the calendar!
Yippy! 5-23-09!

Is “coordination” a pre-req for the Shiva Nata?
Ack…way to rachet up the stakes, Havi! Thanks for the lovely mention. Been wondering how long I can live in the past, no matter how recent. How quickly “doing” dissolves into “procrastinating”.
Under the influence of the uber self-aware folks at The KT, I’ve just realized that while with family in France, my fickle heart was constantly going into atrial fib. But home, trying to work out what I’m going to do professionally, the heart’s doing well but I’m beset with migraines (minor but insistent).
Hmmm….
It’s either REALLY significant, or a simple result of all the cheese and foie gras I was sucking down…and am subsequently withdrawing from.
I’ll be there for the NC date if I don’t have to wear a leotard.
I don’t have to wear a leotard, do I?
I was just wondering about leotards — sometimes you have to wear those for yoga, right? Are they going to be required?
And is there special attire required? Like leotards?
Other than that — I’m there.
Dick Carlsons last blog post..Podcasts — Hez Duin It Rite!*
I thought that post of Christine’s was so great, it really got me thinking about cycles of death & rebirth in business, and how business is actually creative life even though everyone is in giant denial about that. Awesome stuff.
Sonia Simones last blog post..What’s Going On?
Aw thank you, I’m glad my awesome personal ad inspired someone. (I was wondering where all the Twitter adds came from!)
Havi,
The way you generously share your biggified bounty (i.e. readers), and connect us all, as if at one big dinner party, is just red-hot-wonderful.
May 23. That date is so saved.
xxoo,
Erika
Erika Harriss last blog post..Sometimes, reading other peoples’ mail is interesting.
Holy canolli guacamole! I’m just like la-de-da-ho-humming over here tonight and I get an email notifying me of “comment on blog.” So, I hurry myself on over there, since my blog is quite hidden and needing of bigtime biggification. (I’m getting there, one thingie at a time). So, it was like the sweetest comment of 2 words I’ve ever seen and I’m like, I wonder how this random Dave of orangeshirt.com EVER found me, and then I’m like, dude, what’s with this sudden surge of traffic here and then I’m like, dude, what happened, did you like get published in your dreams or something? So, know what? It’s you!!!!! Havi, it’s you!!!!! The angel-winged fairy goddess of tooting little people’s horns. Sooooooo grateful over here and blowing kisses to you and your angel wings and, of course, your wrists, and squeezes to Selma (does she squeek when squeezed?) xoxoxo heidi-of-the-very-rambly-paragraph
Heidi Fischbachs last blog post..Of cake and lovers
🙂
@Heidi – You crack me up, my dear. I love that I am one of the lucky people who gets to read your letters. because they really are that great.
@Erika — oh that would be the coolest thing ever. I love it!
@Dick (a.k.a. Mr. Carlson) — as much as I would dearly like to have you show up to one of my classes wearing a leotard, I’m going to have to be honest and assure you that no such thing is necessary. Because that would be ridiculous. Awesome, but ridiculous. Awesomely ridiculous.
No, wear whatever you like. As long as you can move relatively comfortably, it should be fine. I wouldn’t wear a tie, but that’s me.
@Carma — that was such a great question that I’ve actually written a post about it for the Shiva Nata blog. I will put it up tomorrow!
The short answer is that coordination is not only not necessary but actually it’s better for all concerned if you don’t have any! 🙂
@Denise — Yum! Cheese!
*waves to Tara, Julianna, Terry, Sonia and Tiara*
You guys!
Workshop?! Where in North Carolina? Road trip!!!
How to I get signed up?
Yay!
@LeAnne – oh that would be so much fun! Details coming soon — I have a big meeting this weekend to clear stuff up and then we’ll put up a page. Hooray!
@Carma – I posted about the whole “why it’s really better if you’re NOT coordinated, though yeah, you can be” thing for you!
Yes, Yes, Yes —- I live 3 hours away and would love to be there!! Details please!!!
